A few kinds of work I take on alongside my own. If any of it would be useful to you, say so and we can talk.

Talks and keynotes

I am open to invitations to speak at conferences and events, or as a guest lecturer. The subjects I can speak to with some authority: AI and culture, marketing in the age of AI, building a career around this technology, and AI policy and ethics. That comes out of five and a half years at Microsoft taking AI products to market, a year on the Fairwork project looking at the labour behind AI systems, and an MSc at the Oxford Internet Institute on what all of this asks of the people building with it.

Workshops and teaching

I help groups build with AI tools properly, across Claude, Cursor and whatever else is already in the stack, with the ethics treated as part of the build rather than a slide at the end. That includes designing systems that make real work faster instead of demos that impress for an afternoon. At Oxford I wrote and ran the Claude Builder Club curriculum, eight weeks covering web scraping, security guardrails, API integrations and remote MCP servers, alongside weekly build sessions and hackathons. I run longer programmes too, for teams who want the skills to stay after I leave.

Advisory

Early-stage founders, people trying to move a career into AI, and students applying to programmes in the US and the UK. I have been through those applications on both sides of the Atlantic, and spent long enough inside a large technology company to be useful about how decisions there actually get made.

Writing and research

I am open to commissions and to publishing in places other than my own newsletter. The ground I know well: AI ethics and digital labour, the AI supply chain and the people inside it, AI literacy, and how a culture absorbs a new technology.
