I spend my time on what happens to AI once it leaves the lab: who it lands on, who built it, and whether anyone is accountable for either.
I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. At eighteen, I moved to Philadelphia and my global journey began. At Penn, I completed the Huntsman Program, a dual-degree in business and international studies with a specialized focus in francophone studies. During my degree I spent a year working in Singapore, at LYNK and App Annie, and a semester studying at Sciences Po Lyon.
I started my career at Microsoft in 2020, first in Seattle, then Vancouver, then New York. I began on Microsoft Teams, working with regulated industries: healthcare, financial services and government. I went on to lead go-to-market for the frontline worker portfolio across the Americas, and finished as Senior Product Marketing Manager for Microsoft 365 Copilot, where I led competitive strategy.
Working on Copilot is where my interest in AI’s future and its global effects began. Taking the technology to enterprises around the world showed me how fast it was being adopted, and it made me want to understand the rest of the picture: how these systems are built, who does that work, and what accountability looks like when they go wrong.
I took on a research role at Fairwork alongside my job at Microsoft. I led the development and launch of their AI supply chain audit and certification, which helps companies assess the labour practices behind their AI tools and prepare for EU regulation including CS3D and the AI Act. I collaborated with partners on aligning the certification with the Act.
In 2025 I left Microsoft to study these questions properly. I completed an MSc in Social Science of the Internet at the Oxford Internet Institute, where I focused on AI literacy and on how these systems affect people in regions that are rarely considered when they are designed. My thesis looked at how generative AI is changing what it takes to start a company, and what that asks of founders.
During my time at Oxford I became Anthropic’s Claude Ambassador. I ran the Claude Builder Club, teaching people to build with AI tools, and built AI agents and automations for clients alongside it.
I am now based in London. I write about most of this in On the Record.
